NAME: Luminance Interventions

AUTHOR: Spanish artist Javier Riera.

DESCRIPTION: In his series Luminance Interventions, Javier Riera projects geometric patterns on natural landscapes. Finding inspiration in mandalas, labyrinths or the Fibonacci sequence, the patterns he chooses find a resonance with the natural elements they are projected on. The juxtaposition between the two elements create a meditative experience for the viewer. The photographs did not go through any digital manipulation, they are only a way to register the interventions.

AMUSEMENT RATE: The reference to Land Art is here quite obvious. Just like the art movement born in the 60′s, the landscapes and the works of art are intricately linked and are recorded by photography. However, Luminance Interventions do not use any other materials than the digital projections, creating an even more ephemeral impact on the landscape. It feels like more and more artists are interested in unveiling the deep relationship that exists between nature and geometry. An interest well worth pursuing when they give way to such inspiring artworks.
