NAME: ThrowBack

AUTHOR: Creative technologist Calli Higgins.

DESCRIPTION: This new iOS app is “an exploration between photography and nostalgia.” The pictures you snap with ThrowBack cannot be seen right away. You set the time of the “big reveal” yourself, from one month to five years. The photograph will only be emailed to you and the recipients of your choice then, sending you back to your old memories. You also have the option to select a random reception date, for an even more surprising result. ThrowBack is now available for free on the App Store.

AMUSEMENT RATE: Facebook, Instagram and so on, every day, we go through million of photographs to the point that pictures lose all kind of meaning. ThrowBack takes us back to a pre-digital world by making photographs special again. Let’s just hope that jpeg will still be the standard for pictures five years from now or you will only end up with a sad file you cannot open. Not the kind of memory you want.
