NAME: 100 Years Later
AUTHOR: Japanese sculptor and illustrator Maico Akiba.
DESCRIPTION: What will our devices look like in 100 years? That’s the question Maico Akiba tried to answer in his sculpture series 100 Years Later. A Polaroid camera, an iPhone, an iMac’s keyboard and much more are all covered in rust and moss, signs of the time that went by.
AMUSEMENT RATE: The sculptures imagined by Maico Akiba might very well represent what is set to happen. Since most of our devices are made of plastic, they will disappear long after we are gone. Akiba also has some fun with the deterioration of our gadgets. The moss becomes a tiny landscape on top of a computer mouse. Our objects have acquired a life of their own.
