NAME: Riot

AUTHOR: Team “Riot”, made of director Leonard Mechiari, game designer Mattia Traverso, programmer Ugur Ister, composer Simon Michel and sound designer Eric Wegener.

DESCRIPTION: After the recent riot outbreaks that have arisen throughout the world, from Egypt to Greece, it is only logical to translate this global phenomenon into a game. After all, there are simulations for everything, why not digitally recreate social protests? The trailer of Riot is quite exciting. Players can choose to either be part of the police or of the rioters, in order to experience both side of the situation. The project was recently funded on Indiegogo so hopefully it should be released some time soon on PC, Mac, iOS, Android and OUYA.

AMUSEMENT RATE: We do not know much about the game so far, but the material we have so far makes it look very promising. The 8bit aesthetics looks great and somewhat plays down the seriousness of the issues raised by Riot. You might need to do a bit more than playing the game to become an important social figure, but hey, it’s a start!
