AUTHOR: Berlin-based artist and designer Daniel Franke and Cedric Kiefer, co-founder of onformative, a studio specialized in generative design.

DESCRIPTION: Dancing to Kreukeltape by Machinefabriek, German dancer Laura Keil’s movements are recorded by three Kinect cameras. The data collected were then combined to produce a three dimensional piece where different perspectives become visible in a single video. The body becomes pure movement and defines the space surrounding it.

AMUSEMENT RATE: One might not recognize a dancing body right away but despite the abstraction of the moving shape, there is still something really organic about the way the millions of dots occupy space. This clever use of Kinect technology makes for one great celebration of body and space.
