NAME: ITH Room Xperience

AUTHOR: SerranoBrothers, an design studio based in Lleida, Spain.

DESCRIPTION: Companies from different industries such as Microsoft, Toshiba, Bang & Olufsen or PayTouch lent a hand to the Serranobrothers to bring to life what could be the future of a hotel room. The space is so technologically advanced that the list of its features seems endless. Multitouch transparent screen, interactive mirror, interactive floor, Microsoft Surface, NFC access control and much more will enhance the customer experience and will make his stay more enjoyable. The concept was commissioned by the Instituto Tecnológico Hotelero of Madrid and was presented last week during the Fiturtech 2013, a trade show on innovation and technology applied to the tourism industry.

AMUSEMENT RATE: This room is what every tech enthusiast would dream of but strangely enough, it does not make me vibrate more than that. Of course, I would love to have this huge transparent touchscreen or watch the news in the mirror while brushing our teeth. However having this impressive amount of various technologies in one single space transforms the room into a cold unwelcoming place. Sure, my experience would definitely be different, but not in a good way. With so much screens and devices everywhere, I don’t even know if I’d be able to do the one thing a hotel room is originally for: sleep. I’ll take a more traditional and boring room at the Ritz over this one, thanks.
