DESCRIPTION: This little JavaScript bookmarklet slitscans the videos you are watching on YouTube or Vimeo. The images merge together to create a beautiful panorama where abstraction meets figuration. To use it, drag the slitscanner to your bookmark bar and click on it when you start watching a video. Make sure the videos are on HTML 5 as the script does not support Flash. Sha Hwang selected some of the best slitscanned screenshots on this dedicated Tumblr.
AMUSEMENT RATE: The Slitscanner bookmarklet doest not work equally on all the videos, some are just so abstract that the result is nothing more than a bunch of lines glued together. The magic happens when you find a video which perfectly with slitscanner. So don’t stop after one try, play with the speed and you might create an awesome slitscanned canvas.
