DESCRIPTION: A sheet of spandex becomes a tactile membrane the public can interact with. The surface creates amazing fire-inspired visuals and music as visitors push their hands into it. The animations and music triggered by the pressure evolve according to the depth measured by a Kinect.
AMUSEMENT RATE: The installation was made for a performance piece developed by Aaron Sherwood and Kiori Kawai which will premiere in June 2013. It represents the frontier between death and life. The ray of lights will always escape our grasp as will our understanding of life and death since we cannot experience one without leaving the other. A powerful meaning for a great piece of interactive design.
