NAME: Humanoid robot playing catch

AUTHOR: The Disney Research lab in Pittsburgh, specialized in robotics.

DESCRIPTION: The happy folks from Disney created a humanoid robot capable of playing catch and juggling with a human participant. The robot uses a Kinect to detect the player and the ball. In case of a ball drop, the robot will express its disappointment with humanoid animations such as shoulder shrugs, a head shake or a look back. The project should eventually find its way to the Disney theme parks, making interactions with animatronics characters finally possible.

AMUSEMENT RATE: If you had traumatizing dodgeball experiences during your childhood, I strongly suggest you stay away from the Disney parks in the near future. They are set to become giant dodgeball games with robots throwing the ball at you instead of the usual school bullies. I bet they will have a better aim than their human counterparts and will never miss their target. Ouch! Thank you Disney for always being here to revive our best childhood memories.
