AUTHOR: French designer Viven Muller who invented the project 4 years ago and Will Stone, a product designer who was approached by Muller to help him with his concept.
DESCRIPTION: This little artificial tree does not require the patience and care a bonsaï needs. It will even release you from a very stressful problem: dead batteries. Its “leaves” are made of 27 solar panels which will store the energy to charge your smartphone. Its 14,000mAh internal battery is capable of completely charging an iPhone 5 nine times or a Samsung Galaxy S3 seven times. Four hours of daylight are enough to charge your phone daily. The devices can be connected to the electree+ through a USB cable or wirelessly, thanks to an optional QI charging zone. The electree+ is currently being funded on Kickstarter and hasn’t reached its $200,000 goal yet. A $199 pledge will get you one so head over there to back the project.
AMUSEMENT RATE: Renewable and green energies will play an important part in our future and it is for the better. The electree+ is a great way to start using solar energy at home. It will charge the one thing that should always have power: your phone. Part sculpture, part appliance, the tree will also be a welcome addition to your interior. Just make sure to live in a sunny area or your electree+ will end up being a sophisticated laundry hanger.
