NAME: VHS & Atari games drawings
AUTHOR: Hollis Brown Thornton, an artist based in Aiken, SC.
DESCRIPTION: There was a time when our lives were filled with game cartridges, VHS tapes and cassettes. These days are long gone but Hollis Brown Thornton remembers them well enough to create sharpie drawings of the stacks of games and tapes. The guy sure had a great collection of Atari games, I’ve never seen so many cartridges in one single place. Prints of the drawings are available for sale starting $24.
AMUSEMENT RATE: Hollis Brown Thornton takes us on an emotionally charged trip down memory lane. I surely do not miss VHS tapes and cartridges, they took so much space and the quality was awful. But I loved putting the stickers on and writing down the name of the movie I recorded. Be sure to check out the rest of Thornton’s work, he developed a series where pixelated human figures have their face scratched out that is both creepy and fascinating.
