The Kite: the latest creation from this  russian studio, is an immersion into the social misery of post soviet Russia. Like a “Jerry Springer show” turned into a video game, this indie creation might give you a strong death wish and awkward voyeurism. Its qualities are (literally) to die for. Review.

1/ A tortuous scenario

Entering the world of The Kite will make you discover the wonderful life of Mary, a young mother abused by her alcoholic, drug addict husband. An authentic video game heroine.

2/ A sovietic aesthetic

Wandering around a post-communist environment gives you the opportunity to appreciate a too rare  color palette in video games. Get used to it, gloomy is the new white.

3/ A depressing soundtrack

Listening to “Für Elise” on repeat  played by a music box is  of the game. But the sound design is also an incredible part of this heavy musical atmosphere. Silence, ticks from the clock and drops from the tap are also there to accompany our adventure.

4/ A Siberian difficulty

Finishing The Kite is a Stalinist performance. Especially since the game is only available in Russian for the moment. Welcome to the new video game Goulag.
